Club meeting notes from December 2, 2014
 
Meeting began with prayer by Chief Mull. Songs were "If You're Happy and You Know it", and "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", led by guest song leader Charles Starnes.
 
We welcomed our guests: Bianca Berumen, November Student of the Mont; Laura Earhart, December Student of the Month (see profile below)(; Pierre Perry, Rotary exchange student; and Devon Weldon, guest of Ron Handby.
 
Major Hodge bragged on the community for helping the Salvation Army with their fundraising drive, and Ted Baker at the school, J.B thanked the community for Hunger Plus assistance in finding a new building.
 
Ted reminded the club about signups for bell ringing and meals on wheels.
 
Eloisa introduced prospective member Eddie Ashburn, sponsored by Kenneth Hooper, who was sworn in and welcomed as a new member of Rotary, Plainview.
 
Stan then introduced Texas State Representative Ken King, who offered some of his thoughts on the political scene in Austin.  (He's the one talking.)

Ted Baker closed the meeting with the reminder to 'Lighten up! Rotary' and to put 'Service above Self.'
 
Laura Earhart, December Student of the Month
 
 
Rotary’s December Student of the Month is Laura Beth Earhart. A senior at Plainview Christian High School, she is the daughter of Jeff and Karen Earhart. She is captain of the Lady Eagles volleyball team, on the varsity basketball team and varsity captain of the Eagle cheerleading squad. She serves as Student Council treasurer. Her hobbies include sand volleyball, youth work and being a school tutor. Earhart works at Maurice’s and plans to attend Texas Tech next fall following graduation from PCHS. She is a member of Harvest Fellowship.
