PlainviewImage Rotary club minutes for September 2, 2014

We opened with guest musical director Charles Starnes leading us in ‘I’m Looking over a Four Leaf Clover’, and ‘America’. We then welcomed our guests: Tanner, JR, and Pierre, and launched into our brags. Dorothy bragged on Slaton High School, someone bragged on an old picture of a young JB, Janice bragged on the Grenada Lydia bragged on John Gattica, Charles bragged on Suzy’s birthday, and Leslie bragged on his parents’ 50th Anniversary.

Rob led the Foundation Dollars game, with Dr. Tim Marrow winning the opportunity to draw for the pot. The important card was the five of hearts, but, NO DICE! (Roll it back in). Pot is now at $753 ($376.5 going to the lucky winner). After the drama and excitement of the raffle subsided, Richard announced service opportunities for the ‘Hale on Wheels’ bike event coming up (parking/traffic control, rest stop volunteers, SAG wagon), and Ted continued the wheels theme with an announcement of vacancies for Meals on Wheels.

Stan introduced Michael Graves, who talked to us about the many different kinds of Rotary fellowships of shared interests (even Jazz Musicians!), specifically the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians. Ted dismissed us with a loud ‘gong’ and the encouragement to ‘lighten up, Rotary!’ through ‘Service above Self’.
