Operation Serve 2022 was a BIG Success .

Our 1st service project of the 2022-2023 Rotary Year. The Rotary club of Plainview TX put together a team of a approximately 25 Rotarians and guest to participate in Operation Serve. Operation Serve is joint effort Of the First Methodist Church of Plainview and the City of Plainview, it is a community wide clean up and service outreach. Several organizations and many individuals volunteer their time for Operation Serve. The Rotary club team sought out a project that would benefit the community and help make Planview a better place. The Rotary club has been a long time supporter of the Plainview YMCA, a local nonprofit that runs many programs such as youth tee ball, baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, football, aquatics and exercise workout facilities. The YMCA ministry is strong in our community and we are happy to support it. The Rotary club asked the Y "what can we do for the Y during Operation Serve" . The Y director thought about it for a few days and came back with a couple projects. The Rotary club did not back down and selected the MOST ambitious opportunity. Remove an old storage building from the property and all it contents. This building was built back in the 70's and was well made back then, but the years of weather had not been nice to the structure and it was time to go. The Y has a long-range plan and this building stands in the way of those plans. The Rotary club accepted the challenge. Fun, and fellowship added to the productivity and made the day go buy fast. Several items that were removed from the building and an effort to repurpose them is under way. The YMCA of Plainview puts smile and kids faces a joy in parents harts and build family stability, we are happy to support their ministry.
